What is this? Two checks that do not depend on us: whether any party appears on a sanctions or politically-exposed-persons list, and whether the principal passed identity verification. Both come from a specialised provider.

The rule that never bends: if the provider does not answer, the operation is denied. An unanswered check is not a clean check, the same way a notary does not certify an identity because the registry is down.

Personal data never leaves the provider. We send addresses and identifiers, and we store the result plus an opaque case reference, which is what an auditor needs to retrace the decision.

Screening runs on the critical path of every verification, so answers are cached for a few minutes. A failed check is never cached.
